HWPco was founded in 1970 by Henry W. Phillips as a Manufacturer's Representative for electronic products and solutions. For over five decades, the company has held true to its mission of being the most trusted and valuable relationship in the industry - a commitment that has defined every partnership, every project, and every handshake along the way.
Under new leadership from Trey Gunter in 2015, HWPco more than doubled in size and evolved into the Southeast's leading Professional Services Organization (PSO) for the AV, security, and IT channel - built on a core REP sales-as-a-service platform. Today, HWPco proudly represents 25+ manufacturers across Audio, Video, Security, IT Networking, Technical Furniture, and Infrastructure.
What sets HWPco apart is simple: the sale is just the beginning. Over more than five decades, the company has built a complete support platform spanning sales, technical expertise, training, and events and continues to expand both its services and its team to meet customers and partners wherever the industry takes them next.
In 2026, existing Principal Trey Gunter elevated Kevin Duthu and Patrick Oates to Principals within the company, a strategic move that signals HWPco's commitment to the next generation of AV/IT customers. Together, they are helping direct the firm's focus toward new technical services and elevated partner experiences, ensuring HWPco remains as relevant and forward-thinking in its next 50 years as it was in its first.
